Carleton College Archives. “Stork Photograph Collection.” Carleton College Digital Archives, contentdm.carleton.edu/digital/search/searchterm/student%20activities/field/subjec/mode/exact/conn/and. Accessed 28 Feb. 2025.
- This source is a digital collection of Harvey E. Stork’s photographs, specifically ones that depict student activities. The collection needs to be turned into a spreadsheet of all the photographs’ metadata. We have already created a spreadsheet of the first 150 images, but we may add the metadata for the last 129 images.
- Carleton College Archives owns this material, but they encourage the use of these materials for research purposes as long as everything is properly credited as laid out in their Terms of Use (https://apps.carleton.edu/digitalcollections/about/terms/).
- Carleton Students from the late 1800s and early 1900s are depicted in these photographs. We will have to get rid of student names and anonymize the data. However there is some problematic imagery, such as the existence of the “Karleton Kosmopolitan Klub” and cultural appropriation in some of the plays that were photographed. Our team will discuss a way to address the racist implications of these images with sensitivity and compassion.

- The article is maintained by Amy Gragg. We are using this article for academic purposes and to contextualize our information (not to plagiarize), so we are able to use this article.

Haug, Ralph A. “Editor’s Note.” The Carletonian, 1926, https://archive.carleton.edu/Detail/collections/145098. Accessed 2025.
- These are a couple articles about the pattern of clubs that utilized the acronym ‘KKK’. They are from Carletonia articles and currently in link form, but we could change them into iiif format if needed. Our current intention is to tie them to the ‘extracurricular activities’ section of our photos and to explain one of our photos that specifically shows the ‘Karleton Kosmotolian Klub’.
- The articles are owned by the Carleton Archives.
- The ethical considerations of these articles is to use them as explanatory information for the problematic photos that appear in our data set. Rather than erasing this information, we find it more ethical to use this article and show that it was a racist past of carleton that can be proven by other instances of the acronym.
