The link to my WordPress site can be accessed here: Personal Website. Creating this website was an interesting process. In the past, I have created my own personal site using HTML/CSS, so creating this website using WordPress was still new to me. Initially, the user interface was a little overwhelming so it was difficult to edit and put my information on the web page. Furthermore, I believe my WordPress may have been outdated, as I had to go through a different process to add my own CSS code to change my background color. While my page does currently need some improvement, I look forward to learning more about the tool as I continue to add more to my personal site.
I believe WordPress is a beneficial tool to those without coding experiences, as they will be able to create their own personal site. WordPress does not require a strong coding experience, and people in the fields of humanities can use the tool to create their own personal website for their portfolio, product, or research. Today, I believe the best way to display information to the public is to display it online, either through a blog post or website
For this platform, I plan on continuing to add my projects and resume to personalize this website. Furthermore, I hope to experiment more with the style and background to make it more readable. One thing I want to keep in mind for this site is accessibility and usability heuristics. In other words, people with different backgrounds should be able to access my site and use it functionally.
There are some benefits and drawbacks of using WordPress versus using a social media platform. First off, using a social media platform may be more beneficial as people today are more familiar with social media platforms compared to WordPress. Furthermore, using a social media platform may be easier to display your information. However, with WordPress, you ultimately have more control and freedom over your content, and you can display your information as you like.
