Shared Values & Goals: We value equal distribution of work, so that everyone feels like they’re doing something important. We aim to hold each other accountable throughout the process. We all want to have fun and maintain a truly whimsical nature as we dive deep into our work!
Shared Expectations: We expect everyone in the group to complete their work on time. We also expect communication, even when things are going well. We would like everyone to ask for help if necessary, and remain open to new ideas throughout the process.
Communication: We will communicate mainly in class and through text message, and when necessary we’ll set up in-person meetings outside of class. When we communicate, we will aim to be kind, respectful, considerate, and willing to compromise.
Disagreement: When we disagree, we will not stoop to insults; instead, we will sword-fight like true Knights — with our words. Our kind words. We will aim to understand the other person’s point of view, and compromise wherever possible. When it’s not possible, we will try not to take things personally and be sure to be honest with our group mates about how we’re feeling.
Responsibility Division: The main steps in our process will be to:
- Scan the CLAPs and digitize them
- Clean up data
- Analyze cleaned data
- Visualize
- Present
All members of the group will contribute to digitization in some way, whether by scanning, putting PDFs into OCR software, etc. We will divide the data cleaning step into thirds so we’re all helping. For the final three steps — analysis, visualization, and presentation — one person will be responsible for each. Eliza will be presentation czar, Assata will be graph general, and Josephine is head of analysis, but will delegate as necessary, since the step will likely be intensive.
Anyone can call meetings, and we aim to treat everyone as an equal in this group. 😀
