The csv I used for map.

One of the biggest decisions was figuring out what to include, especially for the symbols and labels. I wanted to indicate some key information about the location, but not block the view at the same time. Balancing detail and simplicity was tricky—I wanted it to be informative but not overwhelming. Choosing the right basemap also played a big role in making sure the layout was clear and visually appealing.

This project has made me appreciate the potential of web mapping in digital humanities. It’s not just about plotting points on a map; it’s about telling a story, making data accessible, and enhancing how people interact with a space. ArcGIS Online, in particular, has been a powerful tool. It offers customization options and interactive features that make the map more than just a static image.

  1. I like your point about telling a story in terms of mapping in DH, I thought of it similarly but rather than A story, I thought of talking about history and how we could use these tools to show trends in it, which in a way is one of the same just applied from different points of view
