Lab Assignment 1

Steve Jobs was a digital pioneer, but when he went home, he listened to vinyl.

I made a 45rpm vinyl adapter.

Going into this lab assignment, I was still struggling to use Fusion 360. Luckily, I found this Youtube tutorial, which I used as inspiration for my 45rpm adapter. Although my measurements are quite off from an actual 45rpm adapter, I think it resembled it quite well. An element that bogged me down is using the sketch tool. I always accidentally clicked on “finish sketch” because the lines kept following my mouse tracker, which made me unable to modify my sketch and thus I restart the entire process. I didn’t really have a compromise that I made, but I didn’t fully follow the Youtube tutorial. I think this tool (Fusion 360) could definitely be used in research. An example I have in my mind right now is recreating and visualizing old societies and specific objects they have.

A cool tip for Fusion 360 is that you can extrude specific parts of your object without raising everything.

  1. Nice work! I think tutorials are very handy in getting inspiration as well as learning about various techniques that you can then apply to your own projects. Just a tip to address your Sketch tool issues. Even if you click finish sketch, it will show up in a bar at the bottom of your screen. You can then double click that sketch or any other feature you make and continue editing it. That way you don’t have to keep deleting it and starting over. Well done and I’m looking forward to future models!
