Blog 3 – Making a Website

To be frank, it was very difficult for me to make this website. It took me a long time to learn how to use the interface, and even now I do not feel entirely confident in my ability to use the site to design. Firstly, I foumd it very difficukt to naviagte the different themes, as some of them had different interfaces. This meant that some of them I did not know how to change the font color or create a text box, but in others I did. The most difficult part of this was that it was very difficult to collaberate with others, as we had completely different formats and interfaces we were working with. However, I am happy with what I made, and it felt very fulfilling to finish different elements that seemed impossible to do at first.

In terms of what could be done with this platform, I think it could help to work for an individual or a community. For example, any sort of self employed job working in something like freelance would need to have a website like this in order to organize work and employers. I also think it could function as a personal website where you could help build community or to simply share thoughts online. This could garner discussions around a topic you post about and allow you to see the viewpoints of other interested users.

I think there can be big differences between hosting your own website compared to signing up for one or using social media. I think that socia media is the easiest to utilize and customize, as it is very accessible and widely accepted in society. I do think that social media is a good way for information to be broadcast quickly, but I think the ability for discussion is more accessible in a separate website, whether that be personally hosted or through a subscription. I have never made a website before, but I would assume that a subscription would include some issues of security or privacy, but personal websites that are internally hosted can be hard to come by if you are not well-versed in digital spaces.
