I made a map of buildings around campus that I visit throughout the week. When making this map, my goal was to keep it as simple and readable as possible. I started by creating a CSV file with the names of the campus buildings, the number of days I visit each building per week, their latitude and longitude, and their addresses. Google Maps made this process very easy for me.
After gathering the data, I chose a base layer that was simple and easy to look at. I originally considered using a satellite map but decided on a regular navigation basemap in ArcGIS because it was clearer and less distracting. I then imported my CSV file into ArcGIS, and after successfully placing symbols on the buildings I wanted, I added a sketch layer to outline their shapes.
Once the main structure of the map was set up, I focused on making it look good and easy to understand. I added colors and adjusted the brightness of the symbols based on how often I visit each building. The more frequently I visit a place, the brighter its symbol appears. This helped create a visual representation of my weekly movement across campus.

Through this project, I realized how useful web mapping can be for organizing and displaying data in a clear way. ArcGIS made it easy to turn my information into an interactive map, and I can see how this tool could be valuable for other projects
