Applying appearances to 3D objects is important for modeling after real-life items. Especially in digital humanities in which one may model after an important relic, knowing how to apply texture is necessary. In autodesk, applying texture is fairly easy to do with the appearance tool. The appearance tool allows the user to select what faces of the object to change and displays a wide range of appearances.
I recommend fully building out your object before applying your appearances. Although it is possible to build onto your object after applying appearances, it is easier and more efficient to wait till the end. It is also possible to add your own custom appearances, but for this tutorial I’ll be using the basic textures provided by Fusion.
Once you have your object, right click on it to bring up the options menu and select appearances.

When selecting this button, a new tab should appear with options on color and texture.

Select the texture you want, download it and add to your favorites. From here you can edit the texture as you please by right clicking and selecting edit.

To apply these textures, first select the surfaces to which you want to apply it to.

After you have done this, you can simply drag and drop the texture onto the object and your 3D model will be finished!
