Midterm

I built a 3D model of a guardian lion from Amavarati sputa using photogrammetry in Metashape. Here’s the link.

  1. I really love this 3D model! This is a stone lion sculpture that I’m very familiar with, and your 3D modeling does a great job of capturing its details—especially the wavy patterns and the cracks in the stone. This also reinforces what I realized during the Carleton Object modeling lab: In a museum, I would almost never get the chance to examine a small sculpture this closely. But DH technology makes that possible, allowing me to see details I wouldn’t normally notice. That’s incredibly valuable for art research.

  2. Hi! I think your 3D model of the Guardian Lion turned out great! It’s amazing how Metashape was able to preserve the intricate details of the sculpture. I also really appreciate how you cleaned up the dataset by removing blurred images and environmental elements. I’m curious—how do you think the results of your final model would have differed if you had kept those blurry images?
