When undergoing the mapping process, some of my decisions included shading the markers based on the frequency of visits, meaning the darker points are the places I visited more frequently, and using a street map base, including labels for the buildings included in my map to ensure understanding. Regarding web mapping for the DH world, I believe digital mapping can be used to create detailed layouts for historical research, which could be helpful and interesting. The ArcGIS online platform, even though at times I found it very confusing and not beneficial, is a tool that, when proficient in using it, could be extremely useful in creating resources for the DH field. Reflecting on my experience with the tool, adding the different features to the map when unfamiliar with the tools felt challenging and frustrating, and I could not add quite the level of finesse I would have liked. After some trial and error, however, I figured out how to do everything I hoped to accomplish to some degree.

I also agree with you about arcGIS, it feels too complicated for the things it does. I feel like a lot of the things it does could be compacted to a few tabs on the sidebar rather than a billion tabs all over the screen. I think if they made this tool a little more easy to use a lot of people would use it because it would be a really cool way to share experiences/places with people on the internet, like a map of my favorite restaurants or favorite shops.
